Why You Need Good Content to Drive Traffic

Driving traffic to you company’s website is most likely one of your objectives. While there are many aspects to the art of driving traffic, it all begins with good content.

The phrase “content is king” is widely used in the business world for good reason; without good content, almost all other marketing tools can’t reach their fullest potential.

Off-Site Content

Off-site content is defined as any content you create that is published on another site. This includes things like social media posts, press releases, guest blog posts and article directory submissions. The purpose of off-site content can range from branding and relationship building to page rank boosting and increasing traffic.

No matter the purpose of your company’s off-site content, it needs to be well-written. Readers who find poorly written content with your name on it are not likely to act on your message. With bad content, your brand name will suffer, people will be less inclined to click links to your site and even Google won’t like your site, which leads to lower rankings.

The purpose of off-site content should be to drive people to do something: visit your site, buy your product or enroll in your newsletter. If your content isn’t clean and polished, you won’t induce this change.

On-Site Content

Every piece of content on your site tells the reader how to perceive you. Error-ridden and low-quality content tells your reader you are not worthy of their business or that you are not an expert in your industry. Once a reader is on your site, your main goal is to keep them there and entice them to act. This is much easier to do with excellent content that sends your message, speaks to the reader and calls them to action.

Good content tells your reader you are trust worthy and that you are the one they should depend on for their needs (whether that be your expert advice or a new product). Content with a strong message and call to action bring all your other marketing endeavors into focus, making them all much stronger.

A professional writer can get your off-site and on-site content to the level it needs to be for your site to perform well. He or she can capture the right tone and include your message in an error-free piece of content that will help your site be more successful.
