Friday Flubs: Marilyn Monroe and One of the Worst Words You Can Misspell

Every Friday’s post is a collection of typos or grammatical errors I’ve spotted throughout the week. Sometimes they are things I find while out and about and sometimes they are things I find on the Internet. If you are anything like me, these typos drive you crazy, especially when they come from people who should know better.

This week I found a typo in a local newspaper’s heading, and it was one word you really don’t want to spell wrong.

It’s bad enough to have a typo in a headline, but it gets worse when the misspelled word is “school.”

Don’t leave me hanging! This error is a pretty blatant one. What would Marilyn Monroe’s fleeting moment forever do? It’s obvious the author of this blog post didn’t do a quick read through before he posted.

Of course, the tone in social media is often much more casual than it is in other copy. But, when a business is using social media, even its tweets need to be error free. When your social media posts are well written, you are adding to your professional brand, and setting yourself apart as an expert in your industry.

Headlines, blog posts, and social media. They all need to be error free in order to build trust with your readers and to build your organization’s image.
